Gary Wales tells the story of his 1952 Rolls: “I have had this car sitting in my garage for three years. It had been locked up in a building in downtown Los Angeles in 1976 and had not moved. The car was being built by the gentleman who was the American distributer for Mallalieu Engineering as a gift for his wife. It was the last of forty cars built by the company and the only one ever built on a Rolls Royce Silver Dawn LHD chassis. All others were RHD Bentleys. It was 95 % completed when this wife passed away, the car was pushed into a corner and there it sat for 37 years. I was then contacted by the owner and offered the car. I completely restored the Rolls, renewing everything that needed renewing and replacing everything that had been lost over the years, like head lights, hubcaps, flying lady and a load of other items. The Rolls now has a total of under 170 original miles on a completely rebuilt RR chassis (done in the mid-1970s ) and my re-restoration of it three years ago. It has air conditioning, center floor shift LHD , six-way electric driver seat, hydraulic clutch and runs like a stripped ass cheetah.”
