1954 Morgan Plus 4, for competitive family transport

The Morgan "face" is so well known to all enthusiasts that any difference is usually noticed immediately. The change from "flat front" to "fencer's mask" is well known from the early 1950s, but many people do not know there were 20 cars laid down with the so-called "interim cowl". This is one of perhaps 3 survivors, and is a four seater. Long owned by Pat Kennett this Morgan has been in use as a competition car almost from new. She has many successed in The Lands End, Edinburgh, Exeter and other classic trials, as well as being used for sprints and races.

The car feels tighter than other Morgans of its age, and pulls very well. The suspension actually rides an inch and a half higher than a standard car, but once you have made the mental adjustment to this, ir presents no problem. Altought it left Malvern with a Standard Vanguard engine, it now runs a tuned TR engine, though still with twin SU carbs. On the road the car is nippy and easily able to keep up with and stop alongside modern traffic, and the extra back seats allow the family to come along with  a week's worth of  luggage.
