A Glimpse of the Future

In 1940 Harley Earl designed the Futurliner, a coach to demonstrate General Motors’ latest automobiles and technology to American consumers. They were used in 194-1941 and in the early fifties they were refurbished to take part in the Parade of Progress. Twelve coaches were built and each one was equipped with the up-to-date innovations of the day. Of those twelve original buses eight are still known to survive and one of those eight, still unrestored, will go under the hammer during the Auctions of America’s sale in Auburn on May 12 – 15. It is still in highly original condition; recently it has been equipped with eight new tires, a new plexiglass windshield and all-new rubber and metal siding.
