Sometimes you don't need to leave your house to find something that not too many people saw before you. Art director Bert Tressel from Amsterdam has a special liking for the many Ford based kit-Specials with GRP bodies that were developed in the fifties and early sixties. Little sports cars which were meant to help John Cap create the car of his dreams. Browsing the post-war ads he stumbled over a car that made his brows rise. Earlier this week the car was listed under the intriguing title: "1938/59 1172 Ford special IFS". As Bert didn't recognise or know about this particular special he decided to contact Malcolm McKay - expert int he field of these classic kit-cars, who answered swiftly & surprised: "Hi Bert, thanks that's an interesting one! The "New, Improved Nickri Spyder" of 1959. I don't think I've ever seen one before. There are a few of the original Nickri Spyders around, and one of the Nickri Alpines. Nice Mechanicals specs too!" According to the advert it is a 1938/59 1172cc with Aquaplane head and inlet. Bert Tressel checked and does not fully agree. The manifold is not one made by Aquaplane. Who else is the manufacturer is not known. Bert & Malcolm, thank you for your keen eye and in helping identify this Nickri Oddball!
