A sad Sunday in Holland; Philine Heikens died.

It started off as one of the beter events that Holland had seen in long time. Some 60 classic sports cars (20 pre-war, 40 postwar) came together in the center of medieval Deventer. Warm and sunny and nothing to stop a fabulous day. One by one the cars started off for  a slow route through the narrow streets of Deventer, and than upon arriving at the dike along the river IJssel a short, well guarded  270 meter track was to be mastered. The cars were started one after another for a sprint followed by full stop 'à cheval'.   During one of the first testruns a De Tomaso lost control during breaking and did hit - as we understand-  3 people of whom two were badly wounded. Philine Heikens, secretary of the Dutch Vintage Sportscar Club and Bert van den Dool, well known car sport presenter and cameraman. At this point very little is known of what exactly happened and why these two people were standing outside the safety bounderies. We understand the situation of Philine is very serious and we can only pray for the best. We wish strength to everybody involved. The only thing we can learn from this and can pass on to organisers wherever they are: 'Motorsport is Dangerous'

Monday 9.00 hrs. the sad news came in that Philine died early this morning.
