In our recent hunt for unrestored concours automobiles we recently stumbled over this dusty, but well restored 1950 Opel Kapitän. Wrong! This postwar 'West-German' product has never been restored in its life. But we need to be honest, the car recently had two handsize patches of new paint. In most other respect it is how it left the factory. Check the interior, check the engine bay, check the dashboard. The son of the owner had a hard time finding the right button to start up the 2,5 liter six until he found the starter button on the floor. Now we never heard of a soft speaking German army commander. But the Kapitän depicted here has an incredible whisper. Rarely we have heard an engine run more smooth outside the realm of Rolls Royce.
