Throwback Thursday: an Aero Minor with VW wheels !?!

Earlier published as Letter to the Editor by Nico Claerhout from Belgium:

Nico resumes: 
Seen at the right side the car has its original steel wheels.
But on the left side the car is on VW Beetle wheels!

I also own a Minor on VW wheels. I found an identical one with also VW wheels.
Searching the internet shows some Aero Minor with Volkswagen Beetle steel wheels.
Both must have similar size, otherwise the car would be higher at one side.

Does anybody know why several Aero Minor are on VW wheels.
Were the original steel wheels of Aero that bad ? If so how can be explained that two were bad and the other to look perfect.
It can't be that the this size of tyre couldn't be delivered as it's the same als the original.
Or were they originally delivered with VW wheels. Which also is strange because I was told VW at that time (1947) had 16" and mine has 15".  Does anybody have a  clue to solve this mystery?"
