Last week's quiz finally was sort of 'doable' again. Some ten quite good answers came in who had at least the Make correct. It is the 1959/60 Lancia Flaminia Loraymo, designed by Raymond Loewy who used the car personally. Most intersting oddbit was the remark by James that the car would have been lost if american Lancia Club president Armand Giglio had failed to find the car. Interesting was that one competitor suggested it is an Avanti, and quite sure this Lancia - at least the rear end - was the inspiration t0 the Loewy team for the famous Avanti.
Most compact and detailed answer - also arrving in time - was by Tobias Wenzel: "1960 Lancia Flaminia Loraymo. Designed by Raymond Loewy and built by Motto, Torino on a 1959 chassis. Loraymo is an anagram for LO(ewy) RAYMO(nd). It shows elements of the predecessor 1957 BMW 507 Coupe and the successor 1963 Studebaker Avanti.
The rear window resembles the Lancia triangle logo. The car has been restored in the late 70s by Basso, Torino and the original 2.5 litre V6 engine with originally 119 HP has been tuned with a Nardi kit, 3 Weber twin carburetors and a modified camshaft to deliver around 150 HP."
Congratulations Tobioas with your second win! Se you all next week.
