This was another tough one! Only three of you came close or spot on. Jurymember Roger Fields, Wander van Eck and Hugo Modderman. The quiz was sent in by The Automobile editorial assistant Scott Barrett who added these comments:
"1960 Studebaker Lark by Italsuisse styled by Pietro Frua. One two-door coupe was built, followed by a handful of four-door saloons. Based on standard Studebaker mechanical parts but with completely new coachwork intended to modernize the ageing Studebaker range. One saloon was destroyed in an Italian film in the 1970s ( editor: but still exists!). Two others were rescued from scrap a few years ago and are awaiting restoration in the hands of an American Studebaker enthusiast. The whereabouts of the coupe are unknown." The three best competitors were very close to each other and differed only in detail. The miunderstanding are about the exact name. The car was designed by Pietro Frua, and built by Italsuisse from Geneva. The name however was Studebaker Italia even without Lark. So in tghe end it was not a really hard decision and we like to congratulate Wander van Eck!
Interesting to add however is that both Scott Barrett and Wander van Eck say that it is unknown what became of this one-off Coupe. The good news comes from Hugo Modderman - if he is right - who claims the car is in the possession of Patrick Drnec from Los Angeles (probably the same 'Studebaker enthusiast' as mentioned by Scott Barrett).
