About Tough to Crack Puzzle #110: 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham

This was a nasty one! First of all we must say that our puzzle text was strongly misleading as we mixed up the car with a very rare oddball: the Chevy-Cadillac 'hybrid' El Morocco. In fact this rear section of the car is nearly identical both with the super costly Caddy and the clever but unsuccesful El Morocco.

Many of you followed us in our misconception. Sorry! From this you learn, never to trust the editor. Go for your own research. The discerning features showing are the fintail shape, the bumper, tail light, the wrap around rear window... and finally : only a supersleuth would identify the grayish brushed roof section as the stainless steel of this 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham. Several competitors hesitated between 1957 and 1958. The car depicted here is the thrird from last of all produced cars, so sorry it is 1958.

Between all mostly correct Caddy answeers, it were only Robbie Marenzi (jury), B. Weiskopf and Steve Bousfield who came up with the correct year, marque and type.  In the end it was Steve Bousfield who came up with the best details, including teh stainless steel hardtop. Congratulations Steve. Please send us an e-mail with shirtsize and mail address and the prize will come your way!
