About Tough to crack Puzzle #91

Over to sunny Spain, where the answer to last week’s mystery car lay. This little Barcelona berlinetta is rare, putting things mildly. In fact the car photographed by our correspondent is believed to be one of just two surviving. Of only 12 made. Surprisingly, the engine it uses in the back is of its own design – an aircooled four-stroke two-cylinder with 610cc capacity. That also gave its name: the Orix 610. This is what the first prototype looks like from the rear and this is what it looked like when new. More of its history here (in Spanish).

Like there are just two cars known – only two of you knew it, too. And Herman van Oldeneel managed to squeeze the most about it in his answer: ‘Built from 1952 to 1954 by Juan Ramirez’ - check; ‘several variants made - roadsters, coupés and a VW Beetle look-a-like’ - check; ‘independent wheel suspension’ - check; ‘BMW-inspired engine’ - check; ‘named after the African Orix antelope’ - check. Herman also added that the pictured car is from the collection of Salvador Claret in Girona – very well - you are worthy of the T-shirt, Herman!
