Last weekend we have received only two good about this exotic US car... Which is funny, as our hardcore visitors may remember that we showed nearly the same car a few years ago.
Jury member James Helms wrote:
"1959 ASARDO 1500 ARS designed by Helmut Shlosser displayed at 1959 NY Auto Show. Never entered production - orders taken at $5875 - while a Porsche Speedster was $3215 and a Jaguar XK150S roadster $5095. Weighing 1500 lbs (wheelbase 88" front/rear track 51/50") tested with 1300 Alfa rather than increased bore 1495 cc 135hp as planned. Alfa mechanicals, Lucas lamps, 300SL door hardware were used with Speedster seats, Borrani 4.5" wheels, 165 x 15 Michelin tires and cut down Karman Ghia windshield - attempts, broke several. Second body and chassis for GM aluminum V8 in 1960 was marginal, but the brilliant 1500 ARS remained a one off due to limited finances".
Nothing to add... except that being a Jury member he couldn't win. So we like to congratulate Till Jauerning, who described the car correct but slighjtly more compact. Please send your mail address and T-shirt size to office*at*prewarcar.com, and for the next time please try to come up with all details you can find, the competition is usually tough to beat!
