You can save for the car of your dreams, or build it yourself. Willam Hearne bought many years ago a special set up by the later Peter Bruin from New Zealand. A racing car based on the ideas of designer engineer Orazio Satta who - to our understanding - designed the Alfa 1900 and did final developmenmt on the Alfetta tipo 159 GP. William Hearne spent a lot of effort in further development of the car.
"This car was built in New Zealand mainly by the late Peter Bruin [whose parents were Dutch]. With my limited resources I have done my best to make it look as close as possible to the Alfetta factory racing cars which commenced production in the late 1930s and won several World Chamionships until 1951 when they were finally beaten by Ferrari. This car uses all Alfa Romeo parts which came from a car owned by N.Z. Champion driver Ron Roycroft. It has a De Dion rear suspension [as the 159 Alfettas], Twin cam engine with two twin choke 45mm Webers, Turbo finned brake drums, twin leading shoe brakes, Borrani aluminium rimmed wheels with Dunlop Racing Tyres."
After eleven years work I was very pleased with its first outing in the U.K. at last weekend's Pre War Prescott on 20th July. Everything on the car worked well and I am looking forward to the next time out." William Hearne.
