Autojumble french style: Bourse d’Echange L’Aigle

The French can be relied upon to produce and enjoy a good picnic, even in October in a car park... This was the eighteenth Bourse that the organising Club, 'Les Amis de la Traction
Club de L'Aigle', has organised. It is based in and around the 'Hall du Gru', a sort of Agricultural Hall cum Cattle Market. The hall is full of Autojumble (Bourse). The surrounding car parks are full of classic cars of all makes and types.

Featuring again this year was the Traction suspended on high from a large crane, last year celebrating eighty years of the Traction I had expected to see a goddess this year for sixty years of the DS. Tractions, DS, ID, and 2CV were in abundance, as one might expect from a Citroen based Club. Rarities included at least five DS decapotable, three SMs, as well as a couple of Traction decaps and a rather odd(click) DS pick up(click again). In the car park of the adjacent (and closed!) Supermarket there were even more cars of all makes and years including Panhard (BT- or CT24?), Simca Ariane(?), Peugeot 203, Renault, and a ??? roadster as well as foreign ‘interlopers’ like Triumph, MG, etc.

As to the Bourse itself, well there must have been a 150 plus stands to explore, with vast amounts of old car material including spares, parts, and of course memorabilia. For British visitors L’Aigle is about 75 miles from Le Havre or Ouistreham, easily done in a couple of hours or so. Normandy can be delightful in the Autumn, and this year the colours in the trees of the Norman forests were a delight. Perhaps a visit to l’Aigle could be the start or end of a short break with your Classic next year?
