You may have seen this image before. It’s a prize winning photograph by John Lakey, who probably shot more pictures at Goodwood than anyone else. We were curious about the background of the image but couldn’t find much. What went wrong with the unfortunate A35 wearing number 4 during the 2014 Goodwood Revival?
The car used to be known as ‘The Powerful Peanut’ and made its entrance to a majority of Goodwood races since 2001, Saint Mary’s Trophy races in particular. Steve Soper as well as our friend Rae Davis have both been behind its wheel and it could often be seen at the front of the field. The last years the little blue Austin was raced by Neil Brown, who we think was in it when Lakey shot this unfortunate (perhaps not for him?) moment. Is he okay? Did the car survive? More information is welcome, but we like something else too and say: caption it!
