We’re no spiritualists or telepathists here at PostWarClassics but as we wrote yesterday: we’d like to watch ahead in the classic car world of 2018. Just a little. What will make waves in the new year? Will the now often predicted market fall take place? Are we really heading for a price crash? We don’t know, but we’d love to hear from you. Personally, we don’t see a collapse coming, but some are convinced it will happen this year. What do they base their ideas on? Coutts reported a 10.4 per cent decline in the value of vintage motors over the past 12 months in September last year, yes. We guess this does mean that we could see a reduction in the number of classic cars on our road, as their value fell for the first time in more than a decade. But it could be the total opposite.
Is it perhaps because we’re on the online side of things that we don’t see it coming? Some 90% of collector car sales is now said to be taking place through the worldwide web, which we do believe for a change. Oh, and how about the cars to buy? It’s a favourite subject of many classic car magazines, some of them telling you to go and focus on the not so old cars, while another picks out a totally different list. As always, your opinion counts here.
