PostWarClassic of the week: 1955 Dellow Mk2
A car that caught our eye earlier this week in our marketplace is this 1955 Dellow Trials car that was titled by dealer Gavin McGuire as 'a trial car which is in a very good condition and is also very rapid'. Especially the last couple of words made us interested in the car.
Dellow Motors Ltd.
The first production Dellows was evolved from a trial special built by K.C. Delingpole and R.C. Lowe. They used a For Ten engine and A-shaped tubular chassis with a very simple two-seater body, which in the early models had no doors.
Good acceleration and precise steering made the cars popular in rallies after they had been superseded in trials by more specialized vehicles. (source: Georgano)
Competitive use:
This 1955 MK 2 model left the works in May 1955 and most likely went straight in competitive use. According to the seller, the car is in a remarkably good condition with not that many damage from use.
A lot of work has been done on the car and it runs and drives fantastic. It has a Ford 100e engine with a Wilment Overhead Valve conversion and a belt driven Shorrock C75b supercharger.
It looks to be a fun car to drive on the road or to compete in trials. And will certainly give you a smile from ear to ear.

If I remember, as with many sports and trials cars, the first Dellow A frame chassis was from an Austin Seven.
