Cooper Car Company relaunched

One of the friendliest faces ever on the motorsports scene has to be the late John Cooper. The former instrument maker, racer, garage holder, engineer and team boss was happy to make a chat with everyone. Cooper had made an open wheel chassis design with an engine at the back, changing the face of motorsport forever since. His team won the F1 World Championships in 1959 and 1960, with the picture above clearly showing off something of his happiness when his car crossed the line first, securing the world title.

But the Cooper Car Company became even more known by turning that little buzzbox into giant slayer: the mighty Mini. Cooper’s garages in Surbiton became the Mecca for Mini fans. That is no longer the question, with the place now actually looking pretty sorry for itself. But there is good hope. The Cooper Car Company has just been relaunched by Mike Cooper, seen here with his dad. His new range of tuning parts and accessories for anything Cooper was developed together with another company and will be sold through specialists, but who knows what will follow. The range includes the conversion kits for Minis the company became so well known for, but also restores Cooper racing cars. They don’t come particularly cheap, but hey, it’s from the founding fathers of the original. Well, his son at least.
