Do you like your top up or down?

The first post war Bentley was the Mk VI, introduced in 1946. Very fine motor cars, but their steel bodies were made from the somewhat lower grade of material which was then available in post-war Britain. Over the years this resulted in severe corrosion of the bodywork, making them very difficult to restore. Hence it’s not strange that many saloons were given a more sporting coachwork. This Mk VI, first registered in 1951, was probably rebodied in the early 1980s by a 'noted but small profuse coachbuilders in Herefordshire', Derek Leyshon-James, who carried out such conversions. And we must say, this four-seater tourer looks very pleasing to the eye, whether top up or top down. We saw it at Hereford Vintage Auctions where it will go on the block tomorrow, Wednesday July 27th.
