The 9th annual Classic Motorshow in Lahti showcased the Finnish rallying legends. The very first 1000 Lakes Rally was held in 1951. This, rather derelict Austin Atlantic (above) is the winning car driven by Arvo Karlsson and Vilho Mattila. The 1951 Allard P1 was driven by Onni Vilkas in the Monte-Carlo rallies of 1952 and -53. The Jaguar Mk VII of Heikki Korppoo completed the Monte-Carlo event in 1953.
This Fiat 500 finished the gruelling 1000 Lakes Rally of 1959 in the hands Alvi Tuutti and Juhani Salmi. The tiny Fiat finished 60th but took group victory as the only participant in the Gr. 1 sub 500cc class.
Interviews with Finland's rally driving masters provided insight to the golden years of the sport. Classic car clubs also embraced the theme by also choosing to show plenty of racing cars at their stands.
Just like always, the outdoor parking lot turned into a living car show of it's own, since the main parking area is traditionally reserved for classic cars only. Mobilisti magazine was present, as one of the main sponsors of the event.
