Forgotten, yet with Elan

Some new cars have better chances to become a classic and to be preserved in the future. Some due to design, others due to rarity. The 1960s Lotus were true icons of design and technology, they were succesful in racing and also in demand for TV series and films. The Elan was the first great commercial triumph of the marque in the early 60s, and was considered one of the most advanced British cars of its era. In 1967 the Elan+2 was launched, a "big brother" with four seats and a longer wheelbase yet with all the good features of the regular Elan like the fine twin-cam engine, the backbone chassis and fiberglass body. Characteristics made this car an automobile for the true afficionado. Which makes us wonder what happened with the Elan+2 in the photo, only recently spotted in Spain? The car seems to stay  in this uncomfortable parking position for years. Lack of funds? Lack of spares? A sad and undeserved story. Who likes to save the car is welcome to get in touch with Francisco Carríon; leave your name and e-mail in the comment box below.
