We have fond recollections of a letter being quoted from an old UK daily newspaper. The letter in question was written by one mister Nahid Kheon. He was a gentlemen who lived not too long in Birmingham by the time he wrote to the paper, expressing his bewilderment about English manners. To quote him here once more: “I am of Indian origin. Recently, when it snowed, I wore two pairs of trousers, two pullovers, two overcoats, two scarfs and a hat. I saw an Englishman on the street wearing only one pair of trousers, one shirt and no coat. He was enjoying an ice cream.”
It’s true that the Brits have little fear to catch a cold. This picture proves it once more. And although it is rather known, the whys and whos about it are not. So we were eager to find out what on earth was going on here. Well. It was taken in the winter of 1967. The girl’s name is Juanite Neary, who put on her bikini in the freezing cold to help sell tickets at the university she was studying at the time – in Exeter. Now, Juanite, feel free to get in touch - if you have survived that ’67 winter, that is.
