Golden (Gate) Girl

What we see here are a couple of landmarks. Apart from the remarable 1950s fashion, there’s the Golden Gate Bridge in the first place. The San Francisco suspension bridge, since 1937, which towers above the water at 1,300 meters. According to the bridge’s own website (!) it is ‘heralded as one of the top 10 construction achievements of the 20th Century’. You won’t read there that it’s also one of the most frequently used suicide places in the world.

But then there’s the car - definitely a landmark in American history, too, since it’s the very first Corvette known to mankind. It’s the prototype known as EX-122, as you will probably know with it’s revolutionary fibreglass floor and body. We wonder if the boys from GM really drove the thing from Detroit to San Francisco, or if they used a clever studio background back at the time. One thing is for sure – this car still manages to attract glove-wearing golden girls to this day!
