Hyping the 330 P4 hyperbole in Paris

For some, even the definition of a supercar falls short to describe a four-wheeler. For them there’s the hypercar. A term invented by the motor trade itself to market an over-the-top version of an over-the-top vehicle. Most of these mobile monstrosities are ‘limited editions’ decked in screaming paint jobs, carbon and badges with names referring to heroic faces and places. Their sole raison d'être is showing off - just in case you’d be unsure about their potential. Still, real hypercars exist too, and this year’s Retromobile in Paris knows what they look like. Like Ferrari’s 330 P4 for example. One of those rare ‘60s racers that would break the 200mph barrier without too much hassle. An intimidating design that ran down the streets too, where it would even make a 250 GTO seem blunt. Just three were made and there’s no doubt about their hyper status now. Retromobile’s press people call it ‘mythique’ and they are right. The best thing about this one is that it comes together with a Bartoletti transporter. We have no idea if it that is the real deal but according to the press statement it’s the one that took the P4 to Le Mans in 1967. If so, that particular diesel powered lorry shouldn’t be too inferior to the P4 with its injected, 36 valves, 450bhp-strong V12. Money wise I mean, as recent history proves. Speaking about hyperboles.
