Into the Fire!

We regularly check all the auction catalogues and when browsing the one from Brightwells, our attention was immediately drawn to this 1979 Bedford CF fire Tender. Like the modern-day Ford Transit, the Bedford CF was widely used: the police, in particular, used them for prisoner transport and as riot vans; the military had a very large fleet of CFs; they were very much favoured by builders and builders' merchants; the Post Office had a sizable fleet and many were turned into caravanettes and ice cream vans. This particular CF has spent all its life as an on-site fire appliance for a major company and has only covered some 7,400 miles from new. All the fire fighting equipment looks to be in full working order. The auction will be held on Wednesday next (June 23).
