Maastricht projects: Vignale to Tickford.

Seen at last weekend's Interclassics in The Netherlands. Maybe not the most beautiful girl in the world. But at least very rare and untouched. 1960 Fiat 2100 Vignale coupe with an odometer reading below 20,000 km.  Not sure what the frontwing decal 'En Pleine' is meant to express. Seen from the rear the car looks like a supersized BMW 700 Coupe. But that is a Michelotti design. In the eyes of many the car may be straight out ugly, but tastes changes over time. So who knows what future judges will say. We wonder if somebody has the courage to preserve and recondition instead of repaint, re-whatever and re-everything. Reconditioning in general is a much more complicated affair than making'better than new'. It takes much more time, sometimes also more money, more patience, more courage.
Other nice project cars were an E-type, A Porsche 356 and a very very nice 1958 Aston Martin DB2/4. Too bad the car will be restored very soon. It even sports a very nice 'period' corrosion hole in the left sill. Personally we would opt for leaving the hole as it is. But alas we can't afford to show the world the courage involved to behave like that.
