Tobias Ubbens sends this interesting photo of a sports car registered in Biel, Switzerland. Tobias: "This car is said to be a Bugatti, participating in a Swiss hill climb in 1949. So far I haven't been able to identify it. Can anyone help?"
Editor: Well, at least it has a radiator badge very similar to Bugatti and the steering wheel is on the right. So far so good. Quite possible that we are looking at a Graber, Hess, Mose or Regazzoni. You may all be aware of the fact that many Swiss coachbuilders were active in this period. And now that we are doing a little research. Which hill climb? Klausen Pass? Grand - Saconnex (the flattest hill climb)? Was it a hill climb anyway? And what car is behind the presumed Bugatti? No Allard for sure, or? The photo appeared earlier at Zwischengas.com connecting the picture with a flying kilometer race near Rome in 1946.
