Mystery childs cart (upd. MFA Autoskiff!)

Recently spotted, this swept winged three wheeler kids cart. At first the new owner thought the steering was missing, but the he found the steering is foot operated. But now the 'drivetrain'. Is it a push cart? Most certainly not. Check the guide wheel sticking out form under the frame. Originally there probably was a cord that was wound around the rear axle. The end of the cord would go forward along the guide wheel and then up through the frame for the pilot to command... Pull the cord and go!? A bit like this earlier example. Is our analysis right? As there is no brandname or similar found on the cart it is hard to find more information. Who can pull some strings regarding this issue?

Update: thanks to one of our French readers we were able to locate the 1938-1950 MFA Autoskiff (check bottom of this homepage)
