Italians like to compare their classic cars to their classic stars. Voluptuous lines like Gina Lollobrigida and sounds coming from quadruple exhausts like Verdi’s Aida. Fabled tenor Luciano Pavarotti, who passed away exactly 5 years ago today, certainly appreciated the shapes and tones from Modena’s finest: Maserati. As a matter of fact Modena was his hometown. The late Luciano was known as a big Maserati fan and bought his first in 1963: a Sebring in Celeste Chiaro. Up until his death in 2007 he served as an ambassador for the marque and drove anything from Kyalami to Quattroporte in between. Maserati people still know to find their way to his estate nearby including the family run restaurant. A real treat if you’re ever around. (press photo Maserati )
