While some of us still need to freshen up from the festivities, others have taken to Austria or Switzerland; Canada or Colorado for skiing. But how about driving the ski slopes with your classic? In an Austrian rally? Tomorrow morning, a field of 49 brave classic car owners and their navigators may well become the first of 2018 to kick-off the rallying season.
And it’s not particularly a jolly. There are 30 special tests, among which a tough mountain test on the Dachstein toll road, one on an airfield and three runs on Austria's fabulous ski mountain: the Planai, which has given this rally its name. Participants face some tough competition from Flying Finn Rauno Aaltonen on Mini Cooper ‘S’, but the field is pretty diverse from Lea-Francis to Steyr Puch Pinzgauer. Watch the rally’s trailer here to get in the mood. Now, if you are looking for the perfect photo opportunity for your 2018 Christmas card...
