The Italians are not good in planning. The fifty years of Lancia Fulvia would have gone past if it weren't for the Valsesia Lancia Story people in Varallo. This village in the valley leading to Vincenzo's house in Fobello keeps Lancia's memory alive.
Not being able to plan seems to be in the genes of Lancia. In the days that the Fulvia was master over the rally fields, the rally team was asked by the Porsche rally team: "what is your five-year plan ?". The answer from the Lancia people was: "we do not know if there is a tomorrow". Since the end of the fifties rallying and racing was not encourraged by the management. Much was done with a closed eye from the management. See for example the only surviving F&M Barchetta (Fangi & Magnioli) on the basis of a 1.6 HF Fulvia (third picture).
Even the planning of this event in the tiny village of Fobello did lead to a bit more crowds than anticipated. The Catholic Patron had her day and the mountaineers where celebrating. Italians would not be Italains if at the end all would go well and everybody his or her part of the fun.
Fourth picture the highly prepared Fulvia which just finsihed Peking to Paris.
The Via Flaminia organization looks a bit further ahead. It has found the co-pilot of Sandro Munari with his Lancia Stratos, Piero Sodano, willing to assist for setting out the 2015 Via Flaminia !
The beautifull Lancia Fulvia Zagato is from Via Flaminia organiser Bart Kleyn who attended as only Dutchman this International Fulvia celebration.
