The 2020 Mille Miglia with a face mask

The Mille Miglia - the most beautiful race in the world, as they themselves call it, starts today. Despite the COVID-pandemic, there are still many entrants who have made their way, with face masks, to Brescia in Italy to share their passion for classic cars.

Yesterday the PreWarCar.com & PostWarClassic.com reporters arrived and shot the first photos of the event. They told us that the way its organised is very strict – but in a pleasant way - to make sure the event can take place despite the national restrictions. The temperature of every participant has been checked 4 times already (only today).

In this year's participants list, we have noticed a lot of blank spaces but the cars that are here are mind-blowing. What a sight: with the OM cars, the beautiful Lancia Lambda's, Bugatti's and the sporty Fiat 501 S (car no. 20). We fell in love with the lines of another Fiat, the 508 CS Berlinetta (car no 84 & 90), and of course - the Lancia Astura Pourtout (car no. 100) that was on our stand at Retromobile. We are a bit disapointed at some of the cars that are definitely not eligable, such as the Racing Green Bentley (car no 118). A great car but it’s clearly not eligible for this event.

We hope all participants are able to enjoy the rally as inteneded. We are already enjoying the photos from behind our computer.

If you are a participant or a spectator, please share your photos and stories with us in a comment below.

The start will be live-streamed from 14:00 (Italian time).

Keep an eye on the website for daily updates of the Mille Miglia 2020!
