Rétromobile has us all exited, and we’re looking much forwards to seeing some of the cars at the Porte de Versailles today. Upon leaving for Paris we spoke to Christophe Pund of the Galerie des Damiers, who unveiled us he is there with some real gems on his stand in hall 1.
Have you ever seen the 1954 Alfa Romeo Sportiva in the flesh (picture 2)? Called ‘The Alfa GTO’ by Classic and Sports Car’s Mick Walsh, it is one of only two made with alloy body, drawn by Scaglione and built by Bertone. And it’s not the only Alfa that you’ll see here. Pund also has a 1900SS Berlinetta with body by Zagato of 1955 vintage (pic 3). A car that was driven by Joakim Bonnier at the Swedish Grand Prix, just before his F1 career took off. Love the interior, too (pic 4)!
However, best of all cars from the Galerie des Damiers current collection (we think) is a car that Pund is unfortunately not able to exibit at the Paris show. It’s a stunning 1954 DB Renault that was raced at Le Mans that year, just as well as at the 12 hours race of Reims 54, the Tourist Trophy, the Mille Miglia of the next year and, after it went to the US, at the Sebring 12 hours in 1956.
