Enjoying the Small Block Chevy

Today, November 3 2011, marks the official day of Chevrolet’s 100 year history. But there’s another celebration as this year Chevrolet has also produced its 100-millionth small block engine. Introduced in 1955 it was an compact and efficient 90-degree V-8 design that was named as one of the 10 Best Engines of the 20th Century. This engine even helped us start on our automotive way as at a very early age we were given a 1/8 scale model of this engine. Made by Monogram, it came with a booklet that described all the details of the engine, and putting it together it helped us learn the names of all the different engine parts. It was a great model that could be built either as a stock or racing engine. It even had movable pistons which you could see. Wish we still had it!
