It's a new year in China. The year of the Monkey. The photos that you see here are showing a US inspired monstrosity (click main photo) spotted some 30 years ago in front of a firestation in Xi'an (hometown of the terracotta army). Only when you stand nearby you will understand that the beast is built on a truck chassis. At first glance you may think of a Hongqi (the brand of Chinese state limousines) which it is not. The photographer long thought it was a one-off built for mthe fire department as he never saw another example in many, many years. By the way with a giant like this you wouldn't expect only three doors. One on the left and one plus a half 'deadmans door' on the right. Only recently another example in the province of Liaoning was discovered. Following we found the car described in an old catalogue bsed on which like to conclude that at least a small series was built. We don't expect any of you to be an expert on chinese odballs. So consider this mindcracking machine as a way to celebrate the chinese New Year. Anybody getting close with his or her description has a chance to win...
