Tough to Crack Car Puzzle # 31

This car comes from a country that we normally do not associate with automobile production. To get production started they sought help from a British factory that supplied the know-how and some parts. We have never seen one and we think neither have you, yet at its peak production reached 5000 per year. It was powered by a Ford engine, but that knowledge may set you on the wrong foot. What we want to know from you is the name of this make, where was it made, who designed it and what was the name of the company that supplied the know-how.
