This beautifully designed, rear-engined racing car has been virtually unknown even in its home country for half a century or more. The Auto Union influence is clear in the layout. But there were many cars with various different engines built in the immediate post-war years using a similar layout. The car looks like it should be fast, but never raced. The car has recently re-surfaced and will be on offer at a well-publicized sale after spending many years in secretive private collection. Hint: the background provides helpful information, but the clearest clue is in plain sight. A bonus, as always, if you can also name the driver shown in the car. (text and photo with special thanks to Leigh Dorrington).
Editor: We rarely run quizzes mid week, but there is always room for exceptions. Do you know which car and which driver? We will send a PostWar T-shirt to one of the good answers. BUT be sure to respond before the car is sold in auction...
