Some ideas are indeed very ingenious. If you are travelling by car and caravan, you can save a lot of space by coupling the caravan to your station wagon and use the resulting accordion part for the beds. It was a prototype made in 1960 by the German company Fahti Fahrzeugbau, which was in business from 1957 until 1969. We don't know if the prototype was ever taken in production, as one drawback is that you need to remove the rear doors of the towing vehicle. But at least the end result looks very cozy. By the way, we think the towing vehicle is an Auto-Union 1000, but you may correct us if we have it wrong (photo collection editor).
