It’s not very often that even our foul-proofed and hard-core puzzle competitors do not even come up with an idea about our traditional Saturday 'Tough to crack' car puzzle. But it was the case last weekend, with this mystery motor. We are not going to tell you anything about it yet, though, as you’ll have to wait for next Saturday for the full answer to that particularly hard nut.
But fact is, that we do know what that car is. And that cannot be said for the creature seen above.
So why not ask you to rack your brain once more this week? We have asked some knowledgeable people about the picture that was sent over to us, but so far they all drew a blank.
Let’s have a closer look then. What we see is a roadster with swoopy lines and Dutch registration. The number ‘UG-82-27’ only tells us it must have been registered in 1956, but that’s it. Do we recognize the Fairthorpe Electron (as here) in it somewhere? We thought so, although if it really was Fairthorpe-based the modifications were so numerous that it doesn’t seem to make any sense. We also wonder if the body is made of steel or of fibreglass. Is that steering wheel recognizable? The wind screen? The wheelbase perhaps? And than there is a logo on the bonnet also… And how about the actual location, with what seems to be a bridge and a 6- or 7 story flat in the background..?
Do you recognize anything at all?
