Last Sunday, May 22nd, Nicky West and Rob Stacey left Great Britain in search for one of the last remaining wonders of the world, the Pyramid of Cheops. They are driving across Europe and North Africa not by 4WD but their transport is a fifty year old Mini. A recent purchase, the Cherry Red 1961 Mini had been off the road since 1967 although the only obvious fault with the engine was a leaking hose and crossed sparkplug wires. Although carefully prepared for the journey, the car is unrestored and original. However, this is an 850cc model, so that Pyramid is quite a goal! Also the political situation in some of the countries is a slight concern at present but Nicky and Rob have a number of alternative routes already planned should they need to make a diversion. They hope that their journey will raise £11,000 for the Willow Foundation, a charity which helps young people afflicted with terrible illnesses. A very worthy cause, and we wish Nicky and Rob a safe trip!
