1990 Porsche 911 Coupe Reimagined by Singer "Los Angeles Commission" | The Quail Auction 2026
Chassis No. WP0AB2969LS450188
Founded in 2009 by Rob Dickinson, Singer Vehicle Design has redefined what it means to restore and reimagine the Porsche 911. Guided by Dickinson's philosophy that "Everything is important," the Classic model represents the purist vision of Singer's fusion of heritage and modern engineering. Each restoration begins with a 964-generation 911 before being meticulously disassembled and rebuilt in Los Angeles into a machine that echoes the iconic long-hood design of early 911s while delivering impressive contemporary performance.
Singer's ground-up reengineering is defined by a painstakingly refined chassis with lightweight carbon fiber bodywork and bespoke interiors powered by a highly tuned, air-cooled flat-six engine-often developed with engineering expertise from Ed Pink Racing Engines. Producing up to 390 horsepower, these cars deliver thrilling performance alongside unmistakable character.
Each Singer Classic is tailored for and named by its owner, with virtually limitless customization ensuring no two examples are alike. As noted by automotive journalist Chris Harris, these creations are "rooted in passion, obsession, and perfection"-a philosophy embodied in every detail of Singer's most celebrated commission.
This 1990 Porsche 911 Coupe has emerged from Singer in 2016 as the "Los Angeles Commission." It is finished in stunning Paint to Sample Namib Yellow with subtle Ghosted Light racing side stripes and Bone White lettering according to its Singer-issued build sheet. The exterior is further enhanced with Nickel Plated Bumperettes, RSR Wheel Centers against a Black background, and Brembo brake calipers finished in Singer Racing Red with White lettering.
The "Los Angeles Commission's" cockpit is enveloped in Bone White from Singer's Classic Leather Collection and features their distinct Uniform Weave throughout, with Ivory Perforated Vinyl headlining and contrasting Black trim including on the dashboard, A and B pillars, roll tops, signature Prototipo steering wheel, and shift knob. More subtle appointments include brass-finished grommets, Alabaster stitching, Waimea Marine Grade Leather compartments, and a Singer Orange tachometer with cream markings. Air conditioning remains standard, and the Becker radio is complemented by Porsche Classic Radio Navigation that enables Apple CarPlay functionality.
At the heart of the "Los Angeles Commission" beats Singer's signature Ed Pink-built 4.0-liter flat-six, which features Singer's "Big" Cams and Ceramic Plenum Inlet. Combined with a six-speed manual transmission and Öhlins Sport two-way adjustable dampers, this example was clearly honed to come alive in the world-famous canyon roads in the city for which it was named.
The "Los Angeles Commission" spent a brief period of time in Florida, Quebec, Canada, and Indiana according to its detailed CARFAX Vehicle History Report, with noted maintenance performed at Graham Rahal Performance prior to the consignor's acquisition in November 2023. Based in Texas, the consignor parted ways with the elegantly specified Singer the following January, but it is clear this distinct commission left a lasting imprint in their mind, and the consignor reacquired the car approximately six months ago. The owner notes that this example also benefits from a full application of paint protection film, which preserves its arresting PTS finish.
The "Los Angeles Commission" is now offered with just 7,819 miles since it was Reimagined by Singer, and is furnished with its Singer build sheet and its CARFAX Vehicle History Report. Prior to Singer's Reimagining, the CARFAX records a Damage Report in 2004 and with Singer's painstaking and world-renowned bare metal restorations that involve chassis seam welding and reinforcing the bodywork with carbon fiber panels, these components are refreshed to the highest standards through modern processes and expert craftsmanship. A potential odometer rollback is recorded after its Reimagining; a notation that is common among bespoke projects such as this where the car is essentially reborn.
Opportunities to acquire a bespoke Singer creation such as the "Los Angeles Commission" are exceedingly rare, with Singer no longer accepting commissions for Classic Studies and the wait list for subsequent models spanning years. However, the reasons for the firm's continued demand and extraordinary reputation become immediately apparent upon even the briefest inspection of one of its Reimagined 911s. From the exquisite fit and finish of its handcrafted components to the tactile precision of its six-speed switchgear and metal instruments, every detail of the "Los Angeles Commission" reflects Singer Vehicle Design's unwavering belief that "everything is important." The richness of its Bone White woven leather interior and meticulous execution throughout elevate the car beyond mere restoration, placing it firmly in the realm of functional automotive art.
Yet, this Reimagined 911 was intended for far more than admiration at rest. Beneath its stunning presentation lies a carefully engineered driver's machine, equipped with an arsenal of performance-honed enhancements that invite enthusiastic use on the world's greatest driving roads, embodying nearly two decades of Singer's relentless pursuit of the ultimate analog 911 experience.
