• Significant history folder dating back to when the car was new
• Fabulous condition inside and out
Originally intended to replace the company's iconic 911, the 928 attempted to combine the power, poise and handling of a sportscar with the refinement, comfort and equipment of a luxury saloon. The body, styled by Wolfgang Möbius under guidance of Anatole Lapine, was mainly of galvanized steel but the doors, bonnet and boot were made of aluminium to save weight. Polyurethane elastic bumpers were integrated into the nose and tail and covered in body-coloured plastic; an unusual feature for the time that was intended as both a styling feature and to reduce drag. In 1980, the 928S was introduced with a larger 4.7 litre engine and wider wheels and tyres, whilst in 1987, the engine displacement was further increased to 4957cc with the introduction of the now highly regarded and desirable 928 S4.
Supplied by AFN Porsche (London) Ltd on 5th May 1989, this 928 S4 has been very well cared for and presents in very good condition all round. The Forrest Green paintwork is in very good order with a good deep rich shine and the contrasting Cashmere Beige interior is commensurate with a low mileage example that has been well cared for. The additional extras on this 928 S4 include automatic transmission, lumbar support on the driver’s seat, soft look leather seats and a sunroof. Our vendor purchased this from Historics for £31,969 in September 2021after a full inspection, having previously owned between 2010 and 2015, he regretted selling it when the car had covered just 59,737, needs must at the time and he appreciated the new owner was a genuine enthusiast. When the option to re-purchase it in 2021 at 65,000 miles came about, he had to have it. The car has been immaculately cared for by both owners and now in a collection of cars, this S4 is seeing less and less use so he feels it is time to part one again with F479 SLF. A comprehensive history folder accompanies F479 SLF, showing numerous stamps in the service book, together with a significant number of invoices. A documented gearbox overhaul was carried out in February 2010 with the mileage at 51,354. Supplied with the original handbooks, a V5 registration document together with a current MoT test certificate valid until June 2027 and a Certificate of Authenticity. Porsche 928’s are fast becoming recognised as being great cars to own; the familiar tone of a 5.0 litre V8 combined with superb German engineering make this an exciting car to drive both on country roads and relaxing on longer journeys.
