• From a museum
The Phillips Panda represents an era when economical and practical motorised transport played an important role in everyday life. Lightweight and easy to operate, the Panda combined bicycle-like simplicity with the convenience of a small-capacity engine, making it an accessible choice for commuters and leisure riders alike. Produced by Phillips Cycles, one of Britain's well-known cycle manufacturers, the Panda featured distinctive styling and reliable mechanical components typical of the period. Today, these machines are increasingly sought after by collectors of vintage motorcycles and enthusiasts of historic British transport.
Originally registered as 44 WMF, the registration mark was subsequently transferred, with the Vehicle Registration Book noting the replacement mark VEN 324. The Panda Autocycle was first registered on 18th July 1959. The vehicle was donated to a museum in 1978 by a private owner and has remained an important preserved example of this rare model. Accompanying the vehicle are its original registration book and the manufacturer’s official rider’s handbook. Manufactured by Phillips Cycles Ltd. of Smethwick, Birmingham, the Panda Autocycle represents a fascinating chapter in British lightweight transport history. It comes with a vehicle registration book, original manufacturer’s rider handbook and registration history confirming transfer from 44 WMF to VEN 324. This Autocycle will need recommissioning prior to any use on the road or indeed starting it. Consigned by James Good
